2022, Bockenheim, Germany Producer: Jonas and Daniel Brand Grape: Müller-Thurgau, Chardonnay, Silvaner, Scheurebe Soil: Loess, loam and shell limestone

This wine is like cloudy lemonade, easy drinking.

Fifth-generation winemaker Daniel Brand first brought organic production to his Bockenheim family farm in 2011 and joined by brother Jonas, started producing wines without sulphur in 2014 (Pur). Riesling and Pinot Blanc dominate their collection, and they make wines with youthful attitude but also care and precision. Their 20 hectares are mostly on the windy Bockenheimer hillside, planted on loam with a lot of shell limestone. It is one of the coolest climate sites in the Pfalz. All their grapes are foot stump. Their grand-mother is responsible for all the drawing on their label. Mixed methods for each grape. Chardonnay grapes direct press, Muller whole bunch in barrel, Scheurebe pressed with basket press and fermented on old oak, Silvaner harvest a bit earlier than usual to maintain acidity. Blended before bottling. Vineyards are also mixed, a few are located in the valley and others located on cooler sites on Bockenheimer hill.
